When the Pope Comes to Town

Roughly a week ago, we were challenged to make a mix to accompany the Pope on his trip to (and around) New York.

Here's to you, Ratzinger

note: though the mix was posted after it was promised, sometimes technical difficulties get in the way of even the most professional podcaster.

It's old, not within my comfort zone, and heavily influenced

This mix is something I dredged the lowly, cavernous, mp3 directories on a backup drive where some tracks were found via Slsk, and a few were suggested to me by the glorious Monia. Classy met her at one ATP. Without further ado, and using the mantra 'Don't do it right, just do it now', I give you the mix by the same name.

As I am currently learning how to make the podcast, and find the means to host the EXTENDED version of the mix - complete with a mix by Mo herself, and a haunting *hidden track* - be patient until that link is posted here for those who realize that the website that is currently hosting my mix isn't the best option around.

mixtape battle for all: papal staples

everyone knows that benedict xvi has hit american soil today.
your mission: create a mixtape for the popemobile.
your due date: 4/23, 1 am eastern.
rules: just one - you can't incorporate "catholic block."

Podcast Battle, Actionchrist Style.

3 computers in the same room + two podcast bloggers + restlessness = PODCAST BATTLE.

Well, something like that at least. Owl E. and I decided to do battle of the mix variety, with an impartial party (Alvion) providing with a theme. The rules: 45 minutes, starting at 11:04 PM to compile a 12 song mix relating to the provided theme.

end credits for a robot's coming of age story

hardcore mixtape battle

actionchrist and i had a battle tonight. the rules were: 12 songs, and 45 minutes to pick them. the theme was chosen by an uninvolved third party - alvion. and it is "end credits for a robot's coming of age story." hey! i don't know what that means! i also don't know if our battle will have a winner.

whatever

It's Disco Rough!

Feeling insomniac tonight. Not sleeping has given me the chance to finish up Disco Rough.

Feel free to dance, but, be aware, you might get slapped.

Riff-raff disco, uh-oh!

youtube mix

i am pretty sure it would take me more than the entire song (7:24) to process exactly what is happening with the album cover art. enjoy. (i actually kind of love the song at 3:24 when they get into the "burn it up (mr. dj)" chorus. but it takes so long (3:24) to get there.

And here's a present that you only get to have if you watch all of "burn it up (mr. dj):"

Which clearly leads to:

And ha ha:

My stereo's broken, I was wondering if I could play this tape:

Finally Disneyland (world?) has a cover band who plays at Tomorrowland. Serious as a heart attack:

A loose autobiography of my weekend.

This mix represents a loose autobiography of my weekend. From the highs to the lows. Just remember kids, sometimes bitches be whack.

Folk mix for early spring

This is a mix of some new (to me) stuff and some old favorites. It's folk, or at least it acts like folk ought to. Not much of it is in English. Tracklist in the comments.

april is a month

i was going to make a mix cd of all the classical music i like, except for the part where i don't have any of it anymore. i'm not saying that sometimes i download music, but i am saying that if you were to hypothetically try to download debussy and smetana, you might not find a lot of people sharing.

so i made a fake classical mix instead that is a real stretch.
and it starts with the most depressing song i've ever heard.

ps: meximelt b. apparently has us covered on an upcoming classical mix.
